Book project completed on the renaissance of industry in Saxony
Since the middle of the year, the Chemnitz Automotive Institute (CATI) has been supporting a book project looking at the renaissance of the industrial state of Saxony over the past 25 years. Drawing on the experiences of those who lived through and contributed to this change, the project offers an extremely vivid and vibrant portrayal of rapid development in the vehicle construction, mechanical and plant engineering, and information and communications technology sectors. In addition to the spirit of optimism imbuing this period, employees’ high levels of qualification and motivation, decisive entrepreneurs with a passion for design, and purposeful and competent management, a prominent role was played by product and process innovations – which is why the book also examines the close relationship between industry and applied research in the region using selected flagship examples. The results of this development are impressive: Saxony is back among the top echelons of German industrial regions and is ideally positioned for a future of Industry 4.0. This book, painstakingly researched and fascinatingly written by Chemnitz journalist Ina Reichel (editor of the magazine ‘Autoland Sachsen’), will be available at the end of November.
